Decree on manner, conditions for connecting illegal buildings to infrastructure networks

Belgrade, 22 August 2023

At today’s meeting, the government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Decree on the method, conditions and procedure for temporary connection to the electric power network, gas network and/or district heating network, water supply and sewerage of illegally built buildings, which prescribes the methods, conditions and procedures for such connection.

The Decree stipulates that only owners of houses and apartments and members of their households, who permanently solved their housing issue by building or buying, and who live in them, can get a connection for electricity, water, sewage or heating, and this possibility does not apply to business facilities, nor investors who illegally built and did not connect the facilities to the communal infrastructure.

Also, the connection is of a temporary nature and does not affect the determination of the legal status of the facility that is connected to the infrastructure.

Citizens living in illegal buildings will be able to submit applications for connection to electricity, heating, water and sewage within 30 days, starting on 15 September 2023, using a form that will be delivered to municipalities.

Members of the government passed a Decision on awarding cash prizes for sports results to athlete Ivana Vuleta for winning a gold medal at the World Championship in the Olympic sports discipline – athletics, long jump and to her coach Goran Obradovic.

By the decision of the government of Serbia, Ivana Vuleta and Goran Obradovic were awarded a monetary award in the amount of €30,000 each in dinar equivalent.
