Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today in Baku with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, by which he began a two-day working visit to that country.
The head of Serbian diplomacy pointed out that Serbia is clearly determined to further strengthen the political dialogue and intensify the overall bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan, expressing his belief that the friendship between the two countries will be even stronger and more fruitful in the future.
The Minister expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's firm and unequivocal position on the issue of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo, noting that the relations between our two countries are characterized by traditional friendship, mutual respect, understanding and support.
According to him, Serbia will continue to work dedicatedly to protect its state and national interests, as well as to preserve peace and stability in the region and the economic integration and progress of the Western Balkans.
Speaking about the current geopolitical events, he pointed out that the partnership and friendship between Serbia and Azerbaijan is particularly important in view of the turbulent events in the world arena.
During the talks, it was stated that there is a great room for the improvement of economic cooperation, which has great potential to catch up with the existing high level of political relations and friendly ties, as well as for the continuation of the development of cooperation in all areas of common interest.
