Đurić said that Serbia considers Greece its closest strategic partner and ally in this part of the world, adding that in the coming period, this should be even more reflected in the two countries’ economic relations, which have enormous potential for growth.
Đurić pointed to the mutual commitment to the construction of new transport corridors that will connect the road transport infrastructure between the two countries.
Đurić expressed his gratitude to Greece for its principled support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija, and for its full understanding of the difficult situation of the Serbian Orthodox population in Kosovo and Metohija.
In this regard, the Minister stated that he had informed his interlocutor about the latest pressures to which the Serb people are exposed as a result of unilateral measures taken by the regime in Priština.
He said that the memorandum signed today between the two ministries will give additional impetus to cooperation between the two countries and introduce additional structure, organisation and planning when it comes to bilateral relations.
Gerapetritis emphasised that today’s meeting was also an opportunity for Greece to once again express its full support for Serbia’s European path, noting that Serbia’s entry into the EU is a geopolitical necessity.
He also emphasised his firm support for the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, expressing satisfaction with Serbia’s constructive stance on the agreement reached yesterday in Brussels regarding the Joint Commission on Missing Persons.
