Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić said in New York during talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili that the two countries relations are traditionally friendly and continuously progressing.
Đurić noted that the exchange of visits of high and top officials would give an additional impetus to the further strengthening of bilateral relations, adding that the two countries will mark 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations next year, with Serbia’s ready to celebrate that anniversary appropriately.
The head of Serbian diplomacy thanked Georgia for its principled and consistent position on non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, underlining that Serbia provides full and unreserved support for the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
Đurić went on to say that Serbia is determined to expand cooperation, especially in the fields of tourism, transport, innovation and creative industries.
He added that the establishment of direct Belgrade-Tbilisi flights would greatly contribute to the development of the two economies, but also greater closeness of the two peoples, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
