Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić and Minister of Tourism and Youth Husein Memić attended a ceremony marking the official launch of direct flights between Belgrade and Guangzhou, set to enhance tourism development.
The new route was inaugurated at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport last night.
On behalf of President Aleksandar Vučić and the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Vesić extended congratulations on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, noting that the launch of the Belgrade-Guangzhou service was organized to coincide with China’s celebration of the anniversary.
Economic ties between Serbia and China are continuously strengthening, with direct flights to Shanghai to commence soon as well, Vesić said. He recalled that the two countries’ Free Trade Agreement took effect on 1 July, which is expected to result in even more visits from Chinese businesspeople.
The Minister noted that Air Serbia will operate two weekly flights to Guangzhou, with a Chinese airline to run an additional two, resulting in a total of four flights per week between the Serbian capital and the Chinese city.
