Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today in Paris with Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Noël Barrot.
Đurić pointed out that Serbia and France cherish traditional friendship, emphasising that the relations between our two countries are today characterised by a strategic partnership, which is also the result of the excellent personal relations between the two presidents, Aleksandar Vučić and Emmanuel Macron.
The head of Serbian diplomacy, bearing in mind that Serbia chairs the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) this year, expressed satisfaction with the joint organisation of the Ministerial Meeting in Paris, assessing that artificial intelligence provides additional opportunities for further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
He recalled that Serbia will host Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade and expressed hope that France will also participate in this important international event.
According to him, the European integration process remains high on our agenda, and Serbia hopes that the negotiation Cluster 3 will be opened soon, in which France’s support will be of immense importance.
Đurić thanked France for the support it provides on our European path, pointing out that Serbia will complete all political, legislative and institutional reforms necessary for membership by the end of 2026.
When it comes to the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, opinions were exchanged on the further prospects of the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, especially in the context of the appointment of a new EU special envoy.
In this regard, Đurić pointed to the constant provocations and violations of the basic human rights of Serbs and other non-Albanian populations by the regime in Priština.
Serbia remains committed to preserving peace and stability in the region, Đurić said, and stressed that dialogue, in which the international community will have a stronger presence, is the only way to reach a solution, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
