The €50 million agreement, part of a large interstate arrangement between the governments of France and Serbia, was signed by Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Mihailo Jovanović and Eviden Group Senior Vice-President Alexandre Jouys, authorised by the Chief Executive Officer of Bull SAS.
Vučević emphasised that the procurement of a second supercomputer demonstrates Serbia’s progress towards development and the creation of opportunities for scientists to receive enhanced and more substantial support, enabling them to carry out their projects even more efficiently.
According to him, the signed agreement also means that start-up owners, as well as those considering launching a private business, will be further encouraged to take that step, while those already operating will be able to develop their businesses even more successfully.
The Prime Minister pointed out that part of the arrangement relates to the development of artificial intelligence, application tools that should help Serbia be more successful in various sectors, from energy and transport to the development of smart cities.
Jovanović explained that the new supercomputer will represent an upgrade of the existing national platform for the development of artificial intelligence and Serbia’s first supercomputer, which is located in the State Data Centre in Kragujevac.
Jovanović underlined that the new supercomputer, which is the subject of this agreement, has as much as 20 times more superchips than the first one and almost 30 times more data space.
French Ambassador to Serbia Pierre Cochard pointed out that the two countries have a common future, that they must solve challenges together and ensure that Europe remains at its level when it comes to digital transformation.
