Outgoing Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić held a meeting today with the delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which is on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia.
Speaking about cooperation under the auspices of the Partnership for Peace Programme, Gašić stressed that Serbia, in this format, remains a committed and reliable partner of the Alliance.
The Minister of Defence took the opportunity to inform the NATO parliamentarians about the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, emphasising that KFOR, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, is the only legal armed formation in our autonomous province and that its role is of exceptional importance for Serbia.
Gašić emphasised that by deciding to maintain the position of military neutrality, the Republic of Serbia demonstrates the consistency of the character of its policy in the international environment, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence.
