Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić emphasised today during the talks with Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Michael O'Flaherty that Serbia is fully committed to protecting the standards and values of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Dačić underlined that the cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior and the Council of Europe takes place in the spirit of joint commitment to the rule of law, human rights and security of citizens.
At the meeting it was concluded that the Ministry of the Interior, by participating in joint initiatives and projects that strengthen police capacities and improve standards of conduct in accordance with European values, as well as through working bodies, meetings and reporting, contributes to the implementation of the goals and mission of this international organisation to which Serbia is committed.
The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasised that members of the Ministry of the Interior acted in accordance with their legal authority to ensure the smooth and safe holding of public gatherings in the past period in cities on the territory of Serbia.
