Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said in Brussels today that Serbia will donate €2 million to Albania to help clean up the consequences of last year's earthquake, and underlined that this is also a message for a common future and different relations.
Brnabic told reporters in Brussels, where the International Donors’ Conference "Together for Albania" was organised, that Serbia wants to show solidarity and support for the Albanian people.
We have worked a lot on the stabilisation of the region and a better connecting. I am glad that Albania has also agreed to the Mini Schengen initiative. This is another way to show that we are here for all our partners, for all citizens of the region and when it is difficult and when there is trouble, Brnabic stated.
In addition to representing Serbia at the donors’ conference, the Prime Minister met with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, European Parliament Speaker David Sassoli, and had a working lunch with European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi.
Brnabic said that these talks were very good and that everyone praised Serbia's progress.
We agreed with the President of the European Parliament that he visit Serbia and a new parliament immediately after the elections, which is quite good for our further European perspective. There was a very concrete conversation with the President of the European Commission about Serbia's progress and the commitment of the new European Commission to the enlargement agenda, Brnabic said.
The Prime Minister underlined that she thanked the President of the European Commission for speaking openly about how important the Western Balkans are to the EU and how important the enlargement agenda is.
According to her, the new European Commission will continue to insist that without the Western Balkans the European Union is not complete.
