Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic started his visit to India by a meeting with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Selakovic said that the meeting with his Indian colleague was very good and underlined that Minister Jaishankar is an exceptional man and that he greatly respects Serbia and our state leadership.
India is our traditionally good friend, who supports us firmly and in principle when it comes to our territorial integrity and sovereignty, the Minister underlined.
He said that an agreement on the continuation of political consultation of the two foreign ministries has been reached, and also on the beginning of consular consultation and the continuation of work of the Mixed Committee for Economic Cooperation.
Special focus was placed on intensification of cooperation in the field of the economy.
Selakovic also underlined that India is an incredible market to which we can export fruit, agricultural produce and that a lot depends on us now.
The Minister said that the improvement of cooperation in the field of tourism was also discussed, noting that there has been four times more Indian tourists in Serbia this year than in 2019, but that these ties must be facilitated by the establishment of direct flights.
We should continue to cooperate in all areas, to build our relations and make use of the traditionally good friendship, Selakovic concluded.
