Belgrade is doing everything to preserve peace in Kosovo and Metohija

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic stated today that official Belgrade is doing everything within its power to preserve peace, but that it no longer depends on us, and called on the international community to reason the prime minister of the temporary self-government institutions in Pristina, Albin Kurti.

At a press conference in the Serbian government, Petkovic said that it is high time someone stopped Kurti because his intention is to provoke war and ignite not only the northern province but the entire region.

He announced that President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic will continue talks with American and European officials today.

"We are shocked by the statements of the United States and the United Kingdom, which demand that Serbia release arrested members of the so-called Kosovo police, while no one mentions the need to release innocent Serbs," he said.

Petkovic emphasised that it is an absolute lie that Belgrade and the competent authorities treat the arrested individuals poorly, and reiterated that our authorities act in accordance with the law.

Speaking about the recent events in northern Kosovo and Metohija, he said that there was a real state of siege in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica last night.

According to him, last night, special units of the Kosovo police ROSU arrived from the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica with over 30 armoured vehicles, wearing masks and carrying long barrels, and mistreated the entire northern Kosovska Mitrovica.

He mentioned that this morning the armoured vehicles were replaced with damaged ones, but there is still a large number of special units present with long barrels.
