Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić assessed today that there is enormous economic potential for cooperation between Serbia and Egypt, driven by our country’s ambition to become Europe’s fastest-growing economy in 2025.
At a joint news conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt Badr Abdelatty, who is on an official visit to Serbia, Đurić announced that the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries will soon be ratified in the Serbian parliament.
The head of Serbian diplomacy stressed that Egypt is one of Serbia’s closest partners on the international stage and that the friendship between the two countries, which has been proven through both prosperous and challenging times, is forged through their mutual desire to conduct sovereign foreign and domestic policies.
Abdelatty expressed confidence that the Free Trade Agreement will increase economic exchange between the two countries by 400 times.
High-level and top-level visits in the recent period best illustrate the strong relationship between Serbia and Egypt, he noted, highlighting the support Egypt provides to Serbia and the fact that it regards our country as a great friend, given the historical ties that connect the two countries.
