The Ministry of Defence stated today that the first contingent of members of the Serbian Armed Forces, which participated in a humanitarian operation to clean up the consequences of floods in Slovenia, has successfully completed its engagement.
Today, 22 members of the Serbian Armed Forces returned to Serbia with H145M and Mi-17 helicopters. They were engaged in the task of air transport of rescue teams, civilians, water, fuel and other materials in the most severely affected mountainous areas of Carinthia and Styria in the north-east of Slovenia.
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces were welcomed at the Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlovic military airport in Batajnica by Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Milan Mojsilovic, who expressed his satisfaction with their ability to perform tasks in complex conditions on mountainous terrain.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the achieved coordination and cooperation with the armed forces of other countries and the Slovenian civil authorities, which presented the Armed Forces and Serbia in the best way in the international environment.
The second contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces, which is engaged in the tasks of biological disinfection of buildings and land, water and fuel supply, and engineering works in threatened areas, will remain in Slovenia until the middle of next week.
