Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today with President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic the opening of the Ruma-Sabac motorway with a bridge over the Sava in the length of 24.6 km.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said on that occasion that every new kilometre of motorway built is a joint victory for both the state and the people, and pointed out that these are big things that change the face of our country.
Vucic said that 500,000 new jobs have been secured, thanks to which the construction of new motorways in our country is also successfully financed, and he pointed out that the construction of new motorways and expressways will continue, as well as raising salaries and pensions.
For Sabac, this will mean the arrival of new investments, and I believe that by the end of 2024, we can complete the high-speed road to Loznica. This motorway to Sabac and the high-speed road to Loznica will bring investors to Loznica, Mali Zvornik, Krupanj, Ljubovija and the whole of Podrinje, and will also help the eastern part of Republika Srpska and BiH, Vucic emphasised.
He stated that the motorway will be opened for traffic today at 6 p.m., and no tolls will be charged until the New Year.
The owner of "Azvirt" company Kamil Aliyev pointed out that during the previous years they made maximum efforts to be a reliable partner and to respect the agreed deadlines and said that Azvirt does not only build bridges and roads, but also permanent ties between the Serbian and Azerbaijani people.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Serbia Kamil Hassiev thanked for the invitation to the ceremonial opening of the Ruma-Sabac motorway.
Our economic partnership is developing successfully and has great potential, as evidenced by this project, Ambassador Hassiev said and pointed out that the visits of the President of Azerbaijan to Belgrade and President Vucic to Baku gave a new impetus to the deepening of the strategic partnership of the two countries.
The Ruma-Sabac motorway, with a new 1,300-metre bridge on the Sava River, connects Srem and Macva and was completed on time.
The beginning of the new road is at the loop in Ruma, which is in the shape of a clover.
When the high-speed road to Loznica is completed next year, it will take an hour and 15 minutes to get from Podrinje to the capital.
The total length of the motorway from Ruma to Sabac with the bridge over the Sava, which is open to public traffic, is 24.6 km, and includes 440 metres connected to the Fruska Gora Corridor, 22.08 km of the motorway from Ruma to Sabac, the bridge over the Sava from 1.335 km as well as 700 metres of section 3 to the Drenovac interchange.
