President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić opened the 46th International Tourism Fair today and on that occasion emphasised that 61 countries have so far confirmed their participation in the Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade.
Vučić expressed his belief that this global event will be a generator of new economic opportunities for Serbia and an inducer of great economic growth to follow.
Tourism is a way to build bridges between cultures, connect people and spread understanding between nations, he emphasised and noted that the Tourism Fair in Belgrade is a place where tradition, innovation, present and future come together.
The President recalled that, when it comes to tourism, November 2024 was a record month in the history of Serbia, and that the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) ranked Serbia among five of the 100 countries that recorded the highest growth in tourist traffic in 2024.
Vučić welcomed the new participants of the Fair – Panama, Ecuador, Estonia and Venezuela, which will present their potentials in Belgrade for the first time.
Italian Ambassador to Serbia Luca Gori assessed that the two countries should jointly take advantage of major events, such as Expo 2027 and the Winter Olympic Games, which will be held in Milan and Cortina in 2026, in order to further develop tourism.
He noted that these are major events through which Italy and Serbia can attract a large number of visitors, and added that Italy wants to encourage the development of tourism in Serbia.
Gori invited all visitors to visit the Italian stand at the Fair, where the focus will be on Sardinia, to which a direct Air Serbia flight will soon be launched.
The International Tourism Fair will last from 20 to 23 February and will feature more than 400 domestic and foreign exhibitors.
