President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić said that 14 people lost their lives in today’s tragedy in Novi Sad when the outdoor roof at the railway station collapsed.
In an address to citizens, Vučić stated that today at 11:50 a.m., a great tragedy befell our country and Novi Sad, when the outside roof collapsed on a large number of people at the main railway station in that city.
The President of the Republic, on behalf of all the citizens, expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of those killed in this tragedy, adding that, according to the latest information, 14 people have died and that he hopes that this is the final number.
Of them, five persons are yet to be identified, eight are citizens of the Republic of Serbia and one is a citizen of North Macedonia, the President of the Republic said.
Vučić pointed out that he requested the High Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad and the Government of Serbia that the persons responsible for today’s accident be prosecuted and severely punished.
