Speaking at a press conference held after an extraordinary government session, Vučić explained that once the resignation is confirmed by the National Assembly, a 30-day deadline begins for electing a new government, and if this does not happen, elections will be called automatically.
He stated that he will make a decision on this matter within the next 10 days, noting that the caretaker government will continue making certain decisions in the interim.
According to him, the state of Serbia has been brought into a not so easy situation and is under enormous external pressure.
Our stability and civil peace are under threat, Vučić assessed, warning that illegal behaviour is being encouraged and treated as normal.
At the same time, the President pointed out that the four individuals who injured a young woman in Novi Sad have inflicted enormous damage on the state of Serbia.
We cannot accept that after yesterday’s call for dialogue and our plea for complete peace, someone violates this on our behalf, said Vučić, noting that important things for the country’s future were presented last night.
First and foremost, we have fully met all student demands, accomplishing a difficult task. Huge amounts of money have been allocated for professors and students, and we have also resolved some issues related to pardons from criminal prosecution, the President emphasised.
