Minister without portfolio in charge of gender equality, prevention of violence against women and economic and political empowerment of women Tatjana Macura participated in the Artificial Intelligence and Women conference in Istanbul.
The conference was opened by President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who during the meeting with Macura emphasised the deep friendship he has towards Serbia and the important role our country plays as a partner of Türkiye in various fields – from the economy to security and social development.
During the festive dinner, the Minister also talked with the first lady of Türkiye, Emine Erdoğan, about her special and very close relationship with the wife of the President of Serbia, Tamara Vučić, among other matters.
According to her, this friendly relationship contributes to the strengthening of bilateral ties and provides inspiration for further cooperation in the spheres of girls’ education and promotion of social entrepreneurship, the areas in which Emine Erdoğan invests special efforts.
At the same time, Macura emphasised the importance of gender balance in technology and underlined the challenges that women face in the world of artificial intelligence.
She noted that Serbia was recognised as one of the most innovative governments at the World Government Summit in Dubai and was appointed to chair the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) for the next three years.
Macura invited Turkish officials to visit the GPAI ministerial summit, which will be held on 3-4 December in Belgrade.
The visit to Türkiye represents an important contribution to the further strengthening of relations between the two countries, as well as a confirmation of the determination to work together on the development of areas of global importance, such as artificial intelligence and women’s empowerment, the Minister concluded.
