Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović opened today a ceremony of granting national awards to the three best young scientists in Serbia within the framework of the international L'Oréal-UNESCO programme “For Women in Science”.

The national awards were presented to exceptional young scientists Ana Hudomal, Milka Malešević and Sandra Veljković, who were awarded for their outstanding contribution in various scientific disciplines – physics of quantum multi-particle systems, molecular microbiology and nanotechnology and microsystems.
Begović emphasised that it is a great success of our country that we have quality, ambitious and smart women who have chosen a career in science, and added that this award is a great incentive and motivation for all our girls to pursue science.
The international L’Oréal-UNESCO initiative “For Women in Science” celebrates its 26th anniversary this year. The programme was launched in Serbia in 2010, and to date, more than 700 young scientists have participated in the competition for national awards, and 41 of them have been awarded a total of almost RSD 25 million.
