First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali met today, on the last day of his visit to Washington, where he is participating in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, with representative of the IMF Mission to Serbia Annette Kyobe.
The First Deputy Prime Minister, together with Governor of the National Bank of Serbia Jorgovanka Tabaković, also met with Director of the IMF’s European Department Alfred Kammer.
He said that Serbia is fully committed to cooperation with this fund and to continuing reforms that are part of the current arrangement and that are important for Serbia’s business and economy.
Mali emphasised that these talks are very important for Serbia, recalling that at the end of last year, the country signed a new agreement with the IMF, a three-year arrangement under which Serbia does not need to draw funds.
According to him, the state wanted to give a clear signal to both the citizens of Serbia and investors that it would continue with the reform process that was started about 10 years ago and which is clearly yielding results, given that the country is currently among the three fastest growing economies in Europe.
