Vucic said during a tour of the construction site that the company has expanded its original plan and will employ between 550 and 600 people.
The plant, which will produce a wide range of Swarovski products, will be completed by mid-next year, he announced, adding that the plant will also be a visual attraction.
The First Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that there was an excellent cooperation of the state and the local government.
He recalled that the government of Serbia has fulfilled its promise to investors and helped them solve the problems that they encountered.
Vucic said that the factory in Subotica will be one of the biggest Swarovski’s factories in Europe.
He repeated that the Serbian government will provide assistance to this company, if needed.
Vice President of Swarovski in charge of production Ralf Geringer explained that the company chose Subotica because of its proximity to Austria, and pointed out that the new factory will be easily incorporated into the network of existing production capacities of Swarovski.
Geringer said that Swarovski appreciates the high professional support from the government of Serbia in the implementation of the first part of the project.
During his stay in Subotica, Vucic also visited production facilities of the German company Continental, which employs 400 workers in this city, and 200 in its production plant in Veliki Crljeni.
He noted that Continental, as one of the world’s leading suppliers of the automotive industry, could significantly increase its presence in Serbia by expanding production facilities and increasing the number of employees.
The First Deputy Prime Minister stated that this company, which is one of the most modern in Serbia in technical terms, can count on the absolute support of the Serbian government when it comes to tax reliefs and infrastructure building.
Vucic promised that the road linking the factories of Continental and Swarovski in Subotica will be completed in two months, noting that the value of the construction works will be between RSD 15 million and RSD 20 million.
CEO of the Continental factory in Subotica Zivko Topalovic commended the support given to date by the Serbian government and local authorities, and added that the factory is working at full capacity, in three shifts.
