Mihajlovic said in an interview with Radio Free Europe that our country needs to continue to maintain good relations with everyone, and noted that some EU countries may have better relations with Russia than Serbia.
She said that there is a consensus in the Serbian government regarding the issue of European integration and underlined that everything that was done last year was done to that end.
Commenting on the remark that many experts in Serbia and abroad expressed doubts regarding the evaluation of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic that Serbia will close all negotiation chapters by 2019, Mihajlovic recalled that there had been many doubts also a year and a half ago when he said that the deficit would be reduced and positive economic growth achieved, at a time when economic growth was negative.
Mihajlovic said that no one is asking Serbia to recognise Kosovo as an independent state, and reiterated that normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Serbia does not mean recognition.
All that this government is doing is an attempt to enable a dignified and decent life for our citizens in Kosovo-Metohija, she said, but pointed out that the current situation in this area shows that we do not have normalisation of relations.
Stressing the importance of the formation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities, Mihajlovic said that everything that our country has done in recent months was with the aim of making it possible for this community to function in reality and that our people can live there.
Everyone thinks that normalisation of relations is the recognition of Kosovo and that Serbia's entry into the EU entails recognising Kosovo’s independence, however, there is no mention of that in any document, nor does the EU asks that from Serbia, she reiterated.
