Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with representatives of the Rio Tinto international mining and metal group about the Jadar project, which deals with the development of lithium deposits in the vicinity of Loznica.
The participants highlighted the importance of a unique jadarite deposit and the future production of lithium and boric acid, both for Serbia and for this company.
Representatives of Rio Tint presented the latest information on the progress of this project, and the meeting also dealt with development opportunities for Serbia and other markets where the Jadar project products will appear.
The Prime Minister of Serbia and representatives of Rio Tinto confirmed the mutual interest of the two sides to continue close cooperation on the development of a modern mine and an industrial plant.
Representatives of this company pointed out that they see Serbia as an attractive investment destination and expressed their gratitude for the support of the Serbian government and the local self government in the development of the project.
The government of Serbia and Rio Tinto signed a Memorandum of Understanding in July 2017 and will continue to work jointly on expanding cooperation in order to further develop the project.
