President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic expressed gratitude today to the Russian Federation and its President Vladimir Putin on 10 BRDM 2 armoured vehicles, which the Serbian Army received from the Russian Federation.
Vucic said in Nis at the presentation of the new BRDM 2, that these vehicles significantly raise the combat readiness of our military forces.
These are exceptional, top-notch vehicles that significantly strengthen the overall maneuverability and firepower of our Land Force. These vehicles are important to preserving our territorial integrity and have a preventative effect. We do not have any conquest plans, he said.
He asked Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko to convey his gratitude to President Vladimir Putin and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu for the great support they have given to Serbia.
Vucic added that MI-35 and MI-17 helicopters are also expected to arrive from Russia, which are ordered and paid, noting that the MI-17 might be the best helicopter ever to exist.
He added that the remaining 20 BRDM vehicles and ten more tanks will be available by the end of the year, pointing out that these armoured vehicles have arrived, despite the opposition of many.
Kharchenko expressed his gratitude to President Vucic for his firm stance in favor of the development of Russian-Serbian relations and cooperation.
