Minister of Culture and the Media Vladan Vukosavljevic today visited the Pontifical Nunciature in Belgrade, where he delivered a letter to the President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi.
Vukosavljevic pointed to a recent incident in Kosovo-Metohija caused by Albanian bishops serving mass at the remains of St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Novo Brdo.
He called on the cardinal to take the initiative and take steps so that the Albanian Catholic clergy stop provoking tension and desecrating the religious and cultural-historical monuments of the Serbian people.
The Minister emphasized that Serbia and the Vatican cultivated a very good cooperation, recalling that in the 14th and 15th centuries there was a church "Santa Maria del Monte Nuovo" for Western believers, whose neglected remains still stand today "extra muros" excavations in Novo Brdo, and Albanian believers could arrange and use the site as desired.
