Within a three-day visit to Japan, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met separately with Japanese investors and with Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation Tadashi Maeda.
Brnabic told reporters that the financial institution is interested in investing in Serbia, announcing that Governor Maeda will visit Belgrade soon to begin talks on launching an investment fund that would open the door for further Serbia-Japan economic cooperation.
Summarising the results of her visit to Japan, she stated that the Serbian delegation met with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Japan-Serbia Friendship Society, in order to strengthen economic and political relations.
Also, she added, our delegation spoke with the current investors in Serbia to see if they are satisfied with the working conditions and what their plans are for the future.
The Prime Minister stated that today was a particularly important day because she met with investors who had not yet invested in our country but are interested in it in the near future.
She said that she discussed political issues with parliamentarians, primarily on Kosovo-Metohija, stating that one issue had been raised in relations between Serbia and Japan - the Japanese recognition of Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence.
Brnabic expressed her gratitude to Japan for its neutral stance when voting in Interop and at UNESCO.
We have asked our Japanese friends to pay even more attention to what Serbia is saying and what our arguments are, in order to get even stronger support for Serbia in the Japanese parliament and the government, she said.
She reiterated that the visit to Japan was a success, announcing at the same time that she will sign a Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Union on Friday in Moscow.
On the sidelines of the visit, Brnabic met with Moldovan President Igor Dodon and Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babiš to discuss Kosovo and Metohija.
