Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic and Director of the Office for Information Technologies and E-Government Mihailo Jovanovic attended today the presentation of a new electronic service – E-Consulate.
From now on, all foreigners who come to Serbia to work can apply online for the D type visa, for a longer stay of up to 180 days, via the service available at the Internet address ekonzulat.gov.rs .
As soon as a foreign national applies for the D type visa, he or she obtains the ID number of his or her application and the employer who intends to employ him or her can submit an application for work permit to the National Employment Service. In this way, the procedure of issuing the visa and the work permit run simultaneously. This makes the procedure of issuing the work visa much more efficient.
Once the foreign national obtains the D visa on the basis of employment, upon arriving to Serbia for the period for which he or she was granted the D visa (for example 180 days), the foreigner does not have to apply for temporary residence, because this visa on the basis of employment for these 180 days means that his or her stay in our country is regulated.
In that case, the employer who intends to hire the foreign national applies only for the work permit, and in case the foreigner remains to work in Serbia longer than 180 days, the foreigner who was granted the D visa applies for temporary residence.
The users of E-Consulate will mostly be citizens of Asian countries (China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal), as well as citizens of Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt who are coming to work in Serbia in large numbers, mainly on big infrastructure projects.
