Development of artificial intelligence key to progress of every society

Begović assessed during the meeting that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) is key to the progress of every society and that it provides great opportunities, but also carries with it responsibility and challenges.
It is important that everyone in this world have an equal opportunity to be educated, regardless of their place of origin, and the development of AI is a good opportunity to achieve this, the Minister emphasised.
She said that the most important task for everyone is not to lose ethics and humanity in these processes, adding that it is necessary to educate as many professional staff and new generations as possible in the field of the proper use of AI.
Gill emphasised that the United Nations strives to become a place where world scientists gather and invited experts from Serbia to be part of this initiative.
Begović also met with UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information Tawfik Jelassi.
Jelassi stressed that it is very important that people involved in science be protected and free.
The Minister noted that ways to protect against the misuse of artificial intelligence should also be considered and concluded that the greatest challenge for societies, despite technological development, is to preserve nature, humanity and culture.
At a meeting with Senior Assistant Deputy Minister for the Strategy and Innovation Policy Sector of Canada Alexandra Dostal, Begović expressed hope for enhanced cooperation between the two countries aimed at joint development of science and technology parks, as well as institutions focused on innovation.
