Popović, who is also the co-chair of the Intergovernmental Serbian-Russian Committee for Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technological Cooperation, and Oreshkin agreed to continue working on strengthening cooperation in these sectors, which are of key importance to both countries, in the coming period.
He emphasised that cooperation with Russia represents a strategic partnership, especially in the field of the gas industry, pointing to the extremely favourable gas supply contract signed three years ago.
The Minister also recalled the strong political and diplomatic cooperation between Serbia and Russia, emphasising that they will be committed to strengthening economic ties in the future.
Popović also recalled the importance of the support that Russia provides to Serbia at the international level, especially on key issues such as Kosovo and Metohija and the adoption of the resolution on Srebrenica at the United Nations.
Russia has always been and will remain our reliable friend and partner in the most important international issues. Despite enormous pressure, Serbia has refused to impose sanctions on Russia and remains consistent in this position, the Minister emphasised.
