Strenghtening cooperation with Italy on scientific research projects

Belgrade, 20 March 2025

Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović today signed, via video link, a Declaration on Joint Research and Innovation Projects selected under the First Executive Programme for Cooperation in Research and Innovation for the period 2025–2027 with Minister of University and Research of Italy Anna Maria Bernini.

This programme has secured funding of over €2 million, further strengthening cooperation between the scientific institutions of Serbia and Italy.

During the conversation, Begović emphasised that Serbia is committed to enhancing scientific cooperation with Italy, as well as to the development of innovations that will contribute to the progress of both countries.

Bernini expressed satisfaction with the continuation of the successful cooperation and noted that joint investment in science and research is crucial for addressing global challenges.

The meeting also covered the cooperation between the two countries on the BIO4 Campus project, with Bernini expressing her satisfaction that Italy is part of this important initiative.

The ministers also discussed plans for the next Serbia-Italy Innovation Forum, scheduled for the end of the year, as well as the possibility of Begović visiting Padua during the year.
