Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić stated today, during talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia Timcho Mucunski, that Serbia will do everything to help people injured in the tragedy in Kočani.
In a joint address to journalists following the meeting with Mucunski, Đurić emphasised that this unspeakable tragedy shook everyone in Serbia, the Balkans and Europe, and that Serbia stood by its friends from North Macedonia with concrete actions in the very first hours.
By order of the President of the Republic and the government, we have sent all forms of assistance at our disposal in order to contribute to the fight for every life, he recalled, adding that many patients from North Macedonia are currently receiving care in Serbian healthcare institutions.
The head of Serbian diplomacy explained that this is not merely a humanitarian issue, but a testament to the genuine friendship and centuries-old relations between the two peoples, emphasising that the region must do everything possible to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Mucunski expressed his gratitude to Serbia for its assistance and solidarity, emphasising that Serbian officials were among the first leaders to offer assistance and that less than 12 hours after the tragedy, the first group of patients had already been admitted to hospitals in Serbia.
He especially expressed gratitude for the dedication and selflessness of the doctors and hospital staff caring for the patients, as well as for the support provided to their families.
