Serbia shows its commitment to European values through constructive approach

Outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić stated tonight that Serbia firmly believes in a European future, which will be based exclusively on respecting our national interests, mutual respect and the application of standards that must apply equally to everyone.

In a statement to journalists in Luxembourg, where, at the invitation of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, he is participating in an informal dinner for foreign ministers from the Western Balkans, Đurić said that these standards must apply equally to Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, who are among the most discriminated ethnic groups in Europe.

Serbia, as he reminded, has been demonstrating its commitment to European values for more than a decade with a responsible and constructive attitude, and accordingly, we hope and want this to be valued and recognised through the opening of clusters.

Đurić expressed his belief that the goal of the new Serbian government, which will be elected in the coming days, will be to become a member of the European Union as soon as possible.

According to him, this has been a national priority for us in the previous period, and here we will try to present additional arguments as to why our membership is something that is good for Europe.
