Supporting gender equality in green transition processes

At the event focused on women empowering a green and just future, organised by UNDP with the support of the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark, Macura emphasised that Serbia sees this transition as an opportunity to redefine economic priorities and include women in the sectors of the future, especially through education, digital training and entrepreneurship.
According to her, there are examples of women, though not many, in independent business in Serbia who have improved their initial operations including by implementing the principles of a circular economy.
She pointed to initiatives such as the Get Involved programme, an initiative for the digital empowerment of women in rural areas, circular economy projects and support for female entrepreneurs through public calls and mentoring.
Serbia, as she recalled, ranks fourth in Europe in terms of the participation of women in science, though women are still underrepresented in the so-called green and technical professions.
