Speaking at the panel on responsibility of the region for a prosperous future in the Balkans, Đurić emphasised that facilitating the region’s access to the European Union would solve most institutional problems and eliminate many political shortcomings in our region.
In the coming period, we will strive to improve regional relations and significantly invest in resolving the problems inherited from the 1990s, he said, adding that this will not be an easy process.
If we want to maintain the high growth rate we have had in previous years, we will have to ensure a stable and friendly environment, which will be the main task of the relevant ministry in the coming period, the Minister explained.
The head of Serbian diplomacy assessed that many problems can be resolved through regional cooperation, but that a prerequisite for this is good political understanding at the highest level between the countries of the region, noting that Serbia will be proactive in attempts to reduce tensions in the region.
The Western Balkans, as he pointed out, is recognised globally as a single area, and therefore it is in the interest of all countries in the region to improve infrastructure and economic connectivity and to have a joint approach externally.
