The Serbian parliament accepted today the proposal to change the Constitution of Serbia and thus gave its consent to change the highest legal act of the state.

The Serbian parliament accepted today the proposal to change the Constitution of Serbia and thus gave its consent to change the highest legal act of the state.
A two-third majority was needed to decide on the proposed change to the Constitution, and out of 213 deputies present, 207 voted for, three were against, two were abstained and one deputy did not vote.
At the end of the debate, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic thanked the deputies for the good debate and constructive advice and said that during the process of amending the Constitution, the Serbian government will be available to the Serbian parliament.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the goal is for Serbia to get the judiciary of a modern and contemporary country, which will enable equal rights for all, the rule of law, fast and achievable justice and economic progress.
Brnabic assessed that these changes are a huge step forward for the rule of law and for Serbia in general.
