Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic stated today in Cairo that Serbia and Egypt have traditionally good relations and that there is a large space for the improvement of bilateral cooperation in numerous fields.
Selakovic said at a press conference held after the meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Sameh Hassan Shukri, Selakovic pointed out that traditionally good relations between the two countries are based on strong historical ties.
We also discussed the foundations of our relations in the past, and that is the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement. Serbia will again be the place where, I believe, all the founding countries, as well as the member states, will gather in October. It will be a great honour for us to host the President of Egypt in Belgrade, the Minister said.
He pointed out that during the meeting they talked about the possibility of organising a session of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation by the end of the year, as well as a session of the Joint Business Council, because there is room for improving cooperation in areas such as agriculture, tourism, telecommunications. energy, health and others.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt assessed that the relations between Serbia and Egypt are marked by mutual solidarity and that the two countries agree on many issues in international politics.
We also discussed the establishment of mechanisms that will benefit the two peoples. We plan to continue cooperation at various levels and to work on its deepening in various areas, especially in the economy, Shukri underlined.
According to him, President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al Sisi is grateful for the invitation to participate in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, to be held in Belgrade in October.
