Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud expressed today the commitment of the two countries to improving bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields.
In a joint address to the press together with the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Selakovic underlined that Serbia sees the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as an important and friendly country, with which it wants to improve relations.
After open and constructive talks, we confirmed friendly relations, but also our common willingness to open the door wider through active strengthening of political dialogue and provide a strong contribution to further cooperation, establishing the practice of meeting at a high level, said Selakovic.
We are interested in improving cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, information technology, but also energy, he added.
The Minister said that Saudi Arabia is recording incredible development and that there is almost no area where it does not reach the highest world standards, Selakovic said and noted that it is one of the most progressive countries of the G20.
As such, Saudi Arabia is a desirable friend and collaborator for any serious sovereign state, like Serbia, Selakovic underlined and added that at today's meeting, clear support for all peaceful solutions to the problems between Russia and Ukraine was confirmed.
Bin Farhan Al-Saud emphasised that the subject of today's meeting was everything that aims to improve relations, both between the two countries and between the two peoples, and the topics were, among others, energy supply, projects and investments.
We are determined to improve the exchange of visits at the highest level and to maintain contact in order to define opportunities for improving cooperation, he said, pointing to a large increase in the volume of trade exchange in 2021 compared to 2020.
The ministers of foreign affairs of Serbia and Saudi Arabia also signed a memorandum on the cooperation of the diplomatic academies of the two countries.
