In a statement for the Tanjug agency, after meetings with Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov in Baku, Djedovic pointed out that we have already agreed strategic cooperation with this country in the field of energy, which we should rely on and that with the representatives of their energy companies, we are talking about diversification, above all when it comes to gas.
Next year, Serbia will complete the gas interconnection with Bulgaria, and this will open up space for us to become part of the southern gas pipeline, which for us means greater quantities of gas, greater security of supply and greater independence, the minister underlined.
She said that today's talks were good and productive, and one of the topics of the meeting was the possibility of importing electricity from Azerbaijan.
According to her, through cooperation and friendship, we have a platform for further bilateral cooperation, one of the pillars of which is energy.
This means that the future project that Azerbaijan has agreed with the EU, which is the construction of an underground cable for the transmission of electricity, will also be useful for us as a transit country, she concluded.
