In his congratulatory message addressed to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, the head of Serbian diplomacy underlined the importance of this important jubilee, stating that "Serbian-Russian relations, regardless of formal frameworks, have throughout history been permeated with the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding and based on common Slavic origins, spirituality, religion and culture."
In the letter, the mutual support, alliance and great sacrifices during the Serbian struggle for liberation in the 19th century, as well as in the two world wars, as evidenced by numerous monuments, are particularly emphasised.
In this context, in his letter, Dacic once again "expressed his deep gratitude for the firm and consistent support for our territorial integrity and sovereignty" in connection with the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.
The Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Serbia presented Dacic with a congratulatory letter from head of Russian diplomacy Sergey Lavrov, in which the readiness of the Russian side for further all-round development of relations is confirmed, as well as the conviction "that the accumulated experience of joint work will continue to serve as a solid foundation for Russian-Serbian cooperation".
Ambassador Bocan-Kharchenko used the opportunity to present Minister Dacic with a congratulatory message from Sergey Lavrov on the occasion of the upcoming Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, according to a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
