Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Milos Vucevic spoke today in Ljubljana with Slovenian Minister of Defence Marjan Sarec about cooperation in the field of defence and providing assistance during natural disasters.
Vucevic stated that the topics of today's talks were the current political and security situation and the war in Ukraine, bearing in mind that Slovenia is a member of NATO and Serbia a militarily neutral country, which has a very clear position that it recognises Ukraine within internationally recognised borders.
He also conveyed the gratitude of Serbia, and above all the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, for the engagement of Slovenian soldiers in KFOR.
We also talked about possible projects regarding the joint production of certain combat systems and how we can improve that cooperation, while understanding everything that is happening in the world, said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He also said that Serbia will make all its capacities available and help Slovenia in case of natural disasters.
At the same time, Vucevic expressed his gratitude to Slovenia for supporting Serbia's European path, and to Minister Sarec for his personal involvement in this matter.
Sarec emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation between Slovenia and Serbia, which have very good bilateral relations, pointing out that good cooperation and solidarity are particularly evident in the case of natural disasters.
Bilateral cooperation in the field of defence and the army is already established, he said, specifying that it is cooperation in the field of military medicine, veterinary medicine, education and certain logistics segments, as well as in the training of units.
Sarec said that cooperation within regional initiatives is important and that Slovenia and Serbia are cooperating very well within the Balkan Military Medical Forces.
