Speaking at a joint press conference with INTERPOL President Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi held after their meeting, Dačić emphasised that for Serbia, INTERPOL is the most important international organisation dealing with operational police cooperation.
He stated that 357 international arrest warrants were issued this year, with 154 people being detained abroad on Serbian arrest warrants and 75 on INTERPOL arrest warrants in Serbia, 106 people were extradited to Serbia, while 82 people were extradited from Serbia.
Dačić emphasised that the Serbian Ministry of the Interior is interested in further improving cooperation through the exchange of information and training, adding that our country wants to improve its capacities to fight all forms of crime and to contribute to that fight at the international level.
Al Raisi said that he would support the initiative to establish an INTERPOL Regional Bureau in Belgrade, noting that Serbia was the first country to apply, believing in the importance of presence of INTERPOL headquarters and the gathering of countries in the region with the aim of fighting crime.
According to him, Serbia is a country that has been committed to cooperation in the fight against crime for 23 years, which is the number of years it has been a member of INTERPOL.
