Nikola Tesla, Mihajlo Pupin symbols of partnership between Serbia, USA

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said today that Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin will forever be symbols of the partnership between Serbia and the USA, because they started their life journey in these areas, while in America they achieved their full scientific potential.

In the PTT Museum, Dacic attended the presentation of commemorative postage stamps "Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin – our geniuses", which were published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the first publication of Pupin's autobiography "From Pasture to a Scientist", and 125 years since Tesla's first public management demonstration via radio waves.

He expressed his satisfaction with the fact that this edition is being promoted on the very day when the Serbian flag was raised on the White House in 1918 and the Serbian people was thus honoured, whose heroic deeds even the then President of the United States of America, Woodrow Wilson, praised.

Our two countries and our common journey of 142 years oblige us to work with each other. Our obligation is to continue to improve relations based on common values and build a partnership in the spirit of mutual trust and respect, Dacic said.

Commemorative postage stamps were presented by the company "Posta Srbije" and the US Embassy in Belgrade.
