First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met late today with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium Hadja Lahbib.
During the talks, satisfaction was expressed regarding Minister Lahbib's visit to Belgrade, which is being realised at this level on the Belgian side after six years.
Both sides pointed out that this visit is of great importance for improving the overall bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as for reviewing the current process of enlargement of the European Union, since the Kingdom of Belgium will assume the presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 January 2024.
The Serbian side voiced the expectation that the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union will be successful and that it will give a positive impetus to taking the next steps in the process of the European integration of the Republic of Serbia.
The two officials noted that bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Belgium is developing positively, especially in the field of the economy. They agreed that additional engagement is needed, in order to use the potential for its improvement in priority areas.
Dacic and Lahbib exchanged opinions on the course of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and the importance of long-term stability in the region, as well as on the main current international topics, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
