President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia Emanuele Giaufret, launched the Serbia-Bulgaria gas interconnection today.

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia Emanuele Giaufret, launched the Serbia-Bulgaria gas interconnection today.
At a solemn ceremony at the Trupale gas station near Nis, they pressed the button together and started the gas pipeline.
Vucic said that today's commissioning of the gas interconnector represents a new beginning in the era of Serbia's energy security and especially thanked the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, for his commitment and strategic partnership, which Serbia will always appreciate.
Minister of Energy and Mining Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic assessed that this is a very important and large international project for positioning Serbia on the gas map of Europe.
She added that this project is important for the gas supply of eastern and central Serbia, for the gas supply of central and eastern Europe, but also for the further gasification of the southern part of Serbia and cities that are extremely important for the economic development of our country, such as Nis, Pirot, Dimitrovgrad, Bela Palanka.
We managed in just one year to finish the works and to agree, first of all, with our friends from Azerbaijan on gas deliveries, but also to coordinate with our friends from Bulgaria to connect at the border between Serbia and Bulgaria and to be able to do this project simultaneously to finish on both sides of the border, she emphasised.
She expressed her gratitude to Azerbaijan for the fact that they managed to agree on all the details of gas deliveries in a short time and that our country will have the possibility to obtain additional quantities of this energy in the future.
The ceremony was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Milos Vucevic, Minister of Labour Nikola Selakovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, as well as Director of Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic and representatives of gas companies from of Bulgaria and Azerbaijan.
