The Serbian government adopted today the Conclusion on the adoption of the Strategic plan to combat fraud and manage irregularities in the handling of European Union funds in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2024-2026.
The EU, with the aim of modernising society and reaching the standards of the "family" of European countries, provides advisory support and financial assistance to the candidate countries, and as a direct financial contribution to Serbia, in the process of preparing for full membership and reaching the standards of the Union, funds are available from the pre-accession funds ( IPA) intended for better implementation of the necessary reforms, harmonisation of national legislation with EU acquis and improvement of the work of the judicial system.
The Republic of Serbia has undertaken to ensure the responsible use of these funds and to establish a control system in order to detect potential irregularities and fraud in a timely manner.
The government passed the Decision on financing the purchase of textbooks with the funds of the budget of the Republic of Serbia for the school year 2024/2025, which refers to the financing and co-financing of the preparation or procurement and allocation of textbooks and manuals, primarily for students who are socially and materially disadvantaged, as well as for students with developmental disabilities and invalidity.
Government members also adopted three amended conclusions - on the allocation of vouchers for the purchase of medicines and medical devices to persons suffering from rare diseases, on the allocation of vouchers for rehabilitation and recreation to persons suffering from rare diseases, and on the payment of one-time financial assistance to families with children who are suffering from rare diseases and others who are suffering from rare diseases, for which the deadline for submission of requests is extended until 1 July 2024.
The government adopted the Decision on the formation of the Working Group for deciding on participation in financing projects for the development and improvement of rural tourism and hospitality in the Republic of Serbia.
At today's session, the Conclusion on the adoption of the framework document of the Republic of Serbia for the issuance of green and socially sustainable bonds was adopted, which will support a new form of green and socially sustainable financing concept, important for environmental protection and social inclusion.
The Conclusion adopted is a continuation of the implementation of the Declaration on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, signed in Sofia, which expresses the commitment to the implementation of activities in these areas.
Bearing in mind that the organisation of international and national sports competitions is important for the Republic of Serbia, government members gave their consent to the candidature of the Sports Association of the Deaf to organise the 18th Individual World Chess Championship for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Belgrade in 2024 and for these purposes allocated funds in the amount of RSD 1,000,000.
