Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić said today, after a meeting with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky in Prague, that the two countries are bound by centuries-old friendship and a close brotherly relationship of our peoples.

Đurić, who is on his first official visit to the Czech Republic, pointed out at a press conference after the meeting that the strategic priority of our country is EU membership.
He added that Serbia is ready to continue improving its legal and political system, as well as economic reforms, in order to fulfil all the criteria for full EU membership by 2027.
Speaking about bilateral cooperation, the head of Serbian diplomacy emphasised that the volume of trade between the two countries was greater than €2 billion in the previous year.
When it comes to security challenges in the world, Đurić pointed out that the European Union as a whole, but also the Czech Republic as a significant actor within the EU, can count on Serbia as a solid support in preserving regional stability.
Our future is based on common European values, clear economic interests and the desire for Serbia, as a country centrally positioned on the Balkan Peninsula, to be a pillar of European values as well, the Minister concluded.
Lipavsky underlined that the Czech Republic strongly supports our country in its efforts to become part of the European Union, as well as that it wants to provide assistance when it comes to the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, stressing that Serbia is a very important partner for the Czech Republic in the region of the Western Balkans.
In Prague, the head of Serbian diplomacy also met with Czech Minister of European Affairs Martin Dvořák, expressing his gratitude to the Czech side for its continuous support in achieving our key foreign policy goal - full membership in the European Union.
He assessed as significant that the Czech Republic, as a member of the informal group "Friends of the Western Balkans", as well as within the Višegrad and Slavkov groups, advocates for faster European integration of our entire region, recognising its geostrategic importance.
