Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić spoke today with Hungarian Ambassador to Serbia József Magyar about cooperation between the two ministries in the field of internal affairs, primarily in the fight against irregular migration.

Excellent cooperation with Hungary in field of interior

The officials at the meeting assessed that the cooperation between the two police forces is excellent, especially in the field of combating irregular migration, as shown by the results achieved within the trilateral initiative of Serbia, Hungary and Austria, which greatly reduced the migratory pressure through Serbia to the countries of the European Union.
Dačić also pointed out that police cooperation is intensive in the areas of combating people smuggling, especially migrants, as well as in the areas of human trafficking, drug smuggling, but also in the area of economic crime and financial investigations.
Both sides expressed their readiness to continue the implementation of activities aimed at fulfilling long-term measures to reduce congestion at the Horgoš and Kelebija border crossings, both for passenger and freight traffic.
