First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali today presented Serbia’s plans for the construction of the Expo complex to the Secretary General of Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition in Aichi, Toshio Nakamura.
Mali pointed out that Serbia is currently the largest construction site in Europe, with works going according to plan, noting that Belgrade was chosen as the host of Expo 2027 in fierce competition and is taking the role seriously.
The First Deputy Prime Minister went on to say that Serbia is the second fastest growing economy in Europe this year, that in 2027 it expects more than three million visitors and that it will use this opportunity to present itself in the best way.
He also assessed that the timing of the event is favourable for Serbia, since it is expected that by 2027, all world crises and conflicts will have ended, and that this will be the year when countries will want and be ready to deal with more beautiful topics, such as the Expo 2027 theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”.
