Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović and energy company Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) General Manager Dušan Živković signed a contract today with the consortium of Hyundai Engineering and UGT Renewables for the project to build self-balanced solar power plants in Serbia.

The contract for the execution of the project for the construction, without management and maintenance, of self-balanced high-capacity solar power plants with a total installed capacity of at least 1,000 MWAC/1,200 MWDC, and battery systems for electricity storage with a total installed power of no more than 200 MW/400 MWh, will provide 1 GW of newly installed capacity.
On behalf of the consortium, the signatories include UGT Renewables Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adam Cortese, Hyundai Engineering CEO Hyeon-Sung Hong, and Hyundai Engineering Belgrade branch Strategic Manager Sang Min Park.
The project will enable Serbia to attain its energy transition goals and meet its international obligations, while eliminating the need for electricity imports and securing long-term supply for consumers at affordable prices.
